Additional Details

  • Short Instructions for the Demon Horse for Horse 3
  • General Morph Types
  • The parts of this product load with a selection of morphs and control dials for the skirt, armdrapes and ribbons designed to help you with fitting it. The morph categories are as follows:
    • Movements: Contains dials for posing
    • Styles: Contains shaping morphs
    • Pose Presets: Contains dials for basic poses of a piece
    • Controls: Controls movement and size of the separate outfit parts
    • Hide-Show: Contains options to hide or show individual parts
  • The Demon Horse Wings and Tail
  • This set consists of several individual parts which can be combined to create a fantastic creature out of the Daz Horse 3.
  • These can be found under Animals/Daz Horse 3/Anatomy/Demon Horse.
  • All of these figures are also provided as combined wearable presets or scene subsets which load all the needed parts together. Provided are presets for all the included parts and more presets for a winged or wingless look for the horse figure.
  • They all include a geoshell addon which creates a layer of shiny scales which serves as a transition between wing/tail and the body of the horse figure.
  • Working with the Wings and Tail
    • The included wings can be used with or without the wingmembranes. The membranes are dForce compliant figures which can be used in a dForce simulation (to be set up as an animation; see instructions below) to enhance the outcome of the drape and behaviour of the membranes.
    • For best results, please follow these steps:
      • 1. Load the horse into your scene.
      • 2. Apply your chosen wearables preset with wings to the horse
      • 3. Set up an animation with 51 frames (you can raise this value if you want the membranes to settle and drape more fully)
      • 4. In frame 1, set a keyframe (click on the little key icon with the plus symbol inside, to the far right end of the bottom icon bar) with the horse and wings in default pose
      • 5. Go to frame 25, select a pose for the horse, then add a new keyframe
      • 6. Go to the Simulation tab inside DAZ Studio and change the following default settings:
      • • Start Bones from Memorized Pose – OFF
      • • Frames To Simulate: Animated (Use Timeline Play Range)
      • • Collision Mesh Resolution: Viewport
      • • Collision Mode: Best – Continuous: CCD
    • Hit the “Simulate” Button!
  • Copying Materials for Wings and Tail
  • The wings and tail models are geograft figures which attach directly to the horse’s body.
  • They load with transition material zones which will accept the textures of the horse’s body - which is a requirement to blend the tail/wings with the horse’s body.
  • To create a smooth transition between the wings, tail and the body of your horse figure, follow the illustrated steps above (example used here is Genesis 8 Female with matching wings and tail – see details at the end of this subsection on how to proceed with Genesis 8.1 Female):
    • Step 1: First select the horse figure in your scene and select the “Coat” material. Right-click on it and select “Copy Selected Surface(s)”.
    • Step 2: Select the wings/tail in your scene tab and navigate to the “Coat” material. Right-click on it and select “Paste to Selected Surface(s)”. Repeat this step on the “Coat” material of the tail if it is present in the scene.
    • Step 3: Now enter the key word uv in the search window of the surface tab (see highlighted square). In the pulldown menu, select “Horse 3 UV” or “Throughbred UV”, depending on which set the horse is using.
  • The Geoshell
  • This product includes a eoshell prop which is used to create soft transitions between wing/tail and body body of the horse.
  • However, this shell can sometimes cause odd effects by overlaying the wings and tails, which may be noticeable as milky white overlays over these pieces.
  • To get rid of this effect, find your geoshell prop in your Scenes tab (look for the shell named DH Horsescales Shell, parented to the horse.).
  • Navigate to your Parameters tab and look for the Shell section in the bottom. Here you will find the option Visibility, and you can then open the appropriate hide and show options on the Surface category. Everything in here should be turned off, with the exception of the surfaces “Coat”, “DHwingsUValt_5743_Coat” and “DHtailUVdef_4421_Coat” for the tail.
  • The Utilities
    • In the “Utilities” folder of the product you'll find zeroing presets which will reset all pose and shape properties of wings and tail.
