Designing a visual story is much more effective when you introduce stylings that will hook and retain your readership for comic books, graphic novels or any visual narrative.

It's not just thinking about a single panel of artwork but looking at styling that works across groups of panels to help tell the story.

In this tutorial Linwelly shares how she discovered and adopted some more subtle artistic composition techniques to make her own superb comic project.

At the heart of her workflow is DAZ Studio and GIMP, but her techniques and knowledge can be applied to any comic artist with their own tools.

About the Presenter : Linwelly

My name is Annette Stenzel though I’m better know as Linwelly, I live with my husband, two children and two rabbits in Germany near Cologne.

After a journey through diverse art forms such as drawing, watercolour, calligraphy, photography and even sewing medieval costumes, I discovered DAZ Studio in December 2014 and it quickly became my favourite creative tool. One year later I joined the DAZ forums Community Volunteers to return some of the kind help that I received, which I still receive whenever I ask!

With a great love for fairy-tale and medieval fantasy I delved deep into the possibilities of the DS program. Telling a story with my images was always a major interest, which later turned into telling stories with sequential art. My focus has turned more from fantasy art to sci-fi. Creating images of places around the world has been another challenge I enjoy very much.

Since February 2017 I have published my comic Taiduo online through the Webtoon hosting platform, with a new episode every other week.

Included in my CGI toolbox is Gimp for post-work, which has become more important over time. Now I enjoy combining different artistic forms to make illustrations for comics, character design and book covers.
