Additional Details

  • If you are not used to setting up an Iray render then
    • 1.Go to the folder Render-Settings and add one of the render setups by double clicking on it.
    • 2.Add whatever figures, architecture or props you wish to add by right clicking on them and selecting “merge into scene”
    • 3 Add an Iray Light of your choice from the Iray-LightSet menu and using “merge into scene”
    • 4 Go to the top right hand Aux Viewport and then to its top icons, set those icon menus to the Camera or View of your choice and the other one set to Nvidia Iray
    • 5 You should now be able to see what its doing, its better and faster to have a graphics card with as many Cuda cores as possible. Mine is not a very powerful Cuda card tho and I was able to do everything I needed to.
    • 6.If the lights are not throwing out enough light, simply select the light in your scene. Then select the Surfaces Tab and open out the items surface areas.
  • We will use the first one as an example LED-Panel,so select that, then surfaces, then open the “LED-Panel” drop down menu and select “Light-LED” (thats the actual light)
  • Now select “Emission” then select Luminance (cd/m^2) (you can set other distance values, I use this one) now go the numers on the right, its set to 16000000.0 if the light is not throwing out far enough or is not bright enough, then simply add a couple of zeros or more if you want it to throw out more light.
  • If its close and you simply want to fine tune it then change the first number to a 4 or a 5 or something like that so it would read 46000000.0.
  • If you want to change the white balance or temperature (Kelvin) go to “Emission Temperature (K)” and its set to 4500.0, now if you set a higher number like 6500 for example it will become more bluish and stark white, lower numbers like 3500 will make it go more golden or yellow.
  • In addition to this you can change the emission color up top, or you can even add an image as a type of gel.
  • Thats pretty much it, you can use as many lights as you wish in your scene and be as creative as you like with this TOTAL IRAY LIGHTING set.
