Product Information

  • Required Products: None

Wound Makeup Artist Geometry Shells is a new version for Genesis 2 Female of the popular LIE Wound Makeup Artist that takes advantage of the new Geometry Shell technology in DAZ Studio 4.6. This has many advantages over the Layered Image Editor (LIE) dependent effects of the previous version.

Geometry Shells are second skins so it makes this product UV independent. Specially useful on DAZ Genesis 2 figures that are characterized by a variety of different UVs. This means this product is compatible with every Genesis 2 Female character like Victoria 6, Gia 6, Lillith6, Olimpia 6, Aiko 6, etc. as well as any future DAZ Genesis 2 female based released character or morph from DAZ or any vendor. (Excluding geografts.)

The wound effects positions are controlled directly in the second skin (geometry shells) by surface parameters. This means you don't need to enter multiple times into the layered image editor to move the placement of a wound in a cumbersome 2D texture map, now you can interactively slide its position directly in the character skin by using the HORIZONTAL OFFSET and VERTICAL OFFSET sliders of the shell in the Surface Tab. This makes the correct positioning of wounds much faster and exact.

Geometry Shell Wounds are stacked as children of your figure in the Scene Tab so you can toggle on and off visibility of effects and single wounds directly on the scene tab. It also means you don't risk flattening of complex wound compositions as it happened in the Layered Image Editor.

Give your character a scar in the face for a tough look, put a bullet wound in his arm, an open wound in his leg where an enemy arrow has hit, a slash in his chest where a sword has grazed or burned skin where dragon fire hit. You control your wounded scene by having the ability to place your wounds in the exact spot where you need it. Bruised lips, whip marks, bloodied teeth, black eyes, scars, scratches, abrasions, several skin bruises, blood options and even full body wound cuts in several stages. Creativity without limits through a ready made library of wound geometry shells that you can re-position on the fly sliding them across your character skin using parameter sliders!

Additional Details

  • This product was made before the DAZ Uber Iray Shader so the application of the shader to the geometry shell when rendering in Iray by the customer is advisable but not necessary. Changes were made in the way the images are setup in LIE to correct the visibility of the wounds in Iray.
  • In Iray the renderer won’t see two geometry shells that occupy the same surface. When you have two wounds (different shells) in the same surface if your wound is looking broken in Iray you need to change the mesh offset value of the shell in Parameters to make it different from the other shells in that surface in order to fix it. Usually just making it one decimal different will make the trick, sometimes it will need more offset. You don’t have this problem in 3Delight.
    • So for example if I have my first geometry shell over Genesis 2 at 0.02 offset, then the next geometry shell I put I need to change the offset to 0.021, the next one to 0.022 and so forth.
    • This means the user needs to change the “Mesh Offset” value in the Parameters tab for every geometry shell he loads in scene over the same figure.
    • Safe values for the first shell for Genesis 2 Female is 0.02 like the example above. on Genesis 2 Male since he has displacement veins on some of his textures we need to go a little higher with the first offset being 0.05 or 0.08. So if you start with the first geometry shell at 0.05 the next shell will be at a 0.051 offset, the next one at 0.052, and so forth.
  • In Iray depending on your lights if the wounds are reflecting too much light you might need to lower the Glossy Reflectivity value in surfaces for each affected wound (geometry shell surface).
