Additional Details

  • The light presets will load five lights - an ambient light, three diffuse/specular lights simulating a three point lighting and another diffuse/specular distant light to add stronger highlights. The three diffuse/specular lights comprised of a main light and offset (key/rim) lights.
  • The difference between each light presets is only intensity. Here are values for each preset:
    • Lighter Ambient
      • Ambient: 240%
      • Key/Rim: 137.5%
    • Neutral
      • Ambient: 100%
      • Key/Rim: 198%
    • Darker ambient
      • Ambient: 30%
      • Key/Rim: 264%
  • The intensity for the highlights light is constant with all presets. This arrangement allows you to freely move/rotate this light around and avoid intensity problems (whiteout/blowout).
  • You can also move the rim lights up to 60 degrees into the area covered by another light (for instance, moving the rim lights from 120 to 60 degrees, colliding with the key lights) and avoid full blowouts. Values higher than 60 degrees will cause problems though.
  • The default color for all lights is light grey (192,192,192). You can change this to warm or cool with the included Cool and Warm color tone presets. If you want to change several lights as one, you can select the lights and apply the aforementioned preset. DAZ Studio will apply the preset to all lights currently selected.
  • The G2M Phillip and G2F Bree presets do not use specular maps. This is intentional so they can be used (with further fine tuning) with other texture/character sets. Here are some additional notes if you like to apply the preset to other character/texture sets
  • The US2 MAT presets will load the diffuse texture to the second diffuse channel in the second layer for some surfaces (skin, iris). You will have to insert the respective diffuse textures (face, toros limbs) to the second diffuse channel.
  • Here's a list of surfaces with SSS and their group IDs: Skin (including finger/toenails) - 5 for G2M, 4 for G2F, Lacrimals, Gums, Inner Mouth, Tongue - 0 for G2M and G2F, Teeth - 1 for G2M and G2F
  • The SSS settings does not take into account SSS control/strength maps, so they shouldn't be used (no maps in the SSS color and/or strength slots). When rendering a scene with multiple figures. please make sure each figure is using different SSS group IDs, particularly for the skin.
  • The specular, fresnel, and SSS settings are the same for all presets. This is again intentional so you only need to tweak bump and specular strength settings when control textures are used.
  • Bump intensity will need to be customized to each texture set, since each texture will be different. This also applies to specular maps. For bump maps, it is recommended to only adjust the percentage. For specular maps, you should try to match the results with the base Bree/Phillip presets.
  • The materials and lights presets are meant to be used gamma correction enabled and with a Gain of 1 and Gamma of 2.2
