Product Information

dForce LongGlam Hair is a luxurious medium to long-length style to make your characters stand out from the crowd and wow everyone with their glamour! It uses dForce Hair to give a highly realistic, dynamic, and draping hairstyle, with every hair individually rendered giving amazing realism.

dForce LongGlam Hair comes with a range of 16 preset styles including straight, waves, and curls, plus a choice of different lengths and whether the hair falls in front of or behind the shoulders on each side. There are also different options for strays to mimic those loose strands of hair to enhance realism Usability is enhanced by presets for different preview modes. While mainly intended for female characters, as Genesis 9 is a unisex figure, it can be used on male characters too.

There are 52 realistic and fantasy hair colors and every color can have different streak effects applied to multiply the number of different looks. There is also a choice of hair shines which can be matched to your scene and lighting.

It is possible to use LongGlam Hair without draping but usually, you will want to simulate the hair and there are three alternative dynamic responses to get exactly the results you want. There are also wind-blown morphs to add that final dynamic touch to your scene. By applying styles either before or after draping and fine-tuning with the parameter dials, you can achieve a huge number of looks.

Note that this is a complex hair requiring around 2GB to render at the standard resolution. I have included a High Res option which results in smoother hair for those special renders but the memory requirements are around twice as much, which may be too much for your GPU to render (it will still render using CPU, just slower).

Equally suitable for contemporary, sci-fi, historical, and fantasy characters in any setting, dForce LongGlam Hair is the perfect way to add maximum realism and glamour to your characters.

Additional Details

  • When loaded the hair is parented to the Hair Cap which is parented to the figure. For most operations, you need to select LongGlam Hair, although for changing hair colors, you can have the figure, the Hair Cap, or the Hair itself selected.
  • You do not always need to drape the hair but for most poses, draping will be desirable, and there are 3 dynamic settings that progressively allow more movement, which means that they will get further from the original shape. Most morphs can be applied either before or after draping for different effects – feel free to experiment!
  • I have included specific fits for Feminine Base, Masculine Base, and Victoria 9, however, there will be many more characters available in the future that I am not able to support yet. For other characters, or if you encounter other issues, I recommend that you set up a small animation as the safest way to drape the hair. I suggest setting 91 frames, set the pose and character that you want at 60 frames, and have a default pose and the character’s head dialed to zero at frame zero. The frames after 60 are to allow the hair to settle but feel free to press Escape to stop the simulation if there is no further movement or if you like the way the hair is draping already. If the final head position is very different from the default pose, either extend the period for the transition or look at repositioning the figure initially so that the head stays in roughly the same global position. Of course, dynamic effects can be achieved by having the head move, turn, bend, or twist between the initial and final poses!
  • Presets are included to change the way that the hair previews. You can show just the hair guides, show the generated hairs which will show as solid black in the Iray preview (this is the default), or to show them in the Iray preview. This last option involves generating a very high number of polygons and so will slow the responsiveness of the interface so is most useful to check how the colors will render or other post-drape options, but any changes to pose, camera position, etc are best done in the default mode. The “Guide Hairs” option is useful to check for poke-through of the guides on your character.
  • There is a pause after you press render while all the hair geometry is loaded onto your graphics card. Once loaded the render times are reasonable for such a complex amount of geometry with millions of polygons.
