Product Information

Luxus allows you to render a DAZ Studio scene to an image using LuxRender. Luxus will automatically translate your scene to LuxRender, or you can control the translation by adding parameters specific to LuxRender in your DAZ Studio scene.

LuxRender is an unbiased render engine based on what light does in real life. Images generated are defined by a simulation of the laws of physics.

Luxus offers close integration with DAZ Studio. As much as possible it does things the way users of DAZ Studio would be familiar with. Luxus shows up as a render engine inside the Render Settings Pane(Tab). Spot Render? Yes it does.

Parameters relevant to LuxRender can be added to any existing materials in the DAZ Studio scene. These parameters can be multiple selected and adjusted in the Surfaces Pane. Any material presets saved out will have these LuxRender parameters.

As much as possible Luxus is future proofed to support the fast paced effort of the LuxRender project.

Resolved Issues

  • 2013-04-29 - 1.0.0.5 -
    • Projection Lights now work.
    • Render Settings now save and load with the file according to the preferences set in DAZ Studio
    • Added option to override the Light Group name
    • Strength texture maps no longer get gamma corrected. This fixes the hair too transparent problem.
    • Collect textures now allows the user to choose the format. In windows, LuxRender is choking on some tiffs. The default is now png.
    • LuxRender Material Extra Settings now has an editor called “Luxus Extra Script Edit” that by default will show up in the Surfaces Option Pane.
    • The Extra Settings Fields now allows javascript scripting in a eval { } block.
  • 2013-03-25 - 1.0.0.4 -
    • Gamma - Colors are now properly linearized. This is important, everyone is urged to update to click on Reset To Default at the bottom of Render Settings.
    • Depth of Field values are now passed into LuxRender and work.
    • Accidental resuming when overwriting is fixed
    • Autotranslation of UberSurface tweaked in regards to the Gamma changes and to favor subsurface color.
    • Transmap issues improved
    • Extra Command Line for passing command line arguments to LuxRender. This allows advanced control of number of threads and theoretically(untested) even master/slave rendering control.
    • IES lights files belong on the area light(in the material light section) and work.
  • 2013-03-14 - 1.0.0.3 -
    • Tiling is fixed. Just use the tiling in the studio parameters
    • Light group per material. For when a single object has 2 light
    • Emitting materials
    • Default sampler is now metropolis
    • Write flm option added and defaults to on
    • Premultiply alpha added for alpha backgrounds and defaults to off
    • Goniomtric (IES) file, save file dialog as changed to open file dialog
    • SurfaceIntegrator “sppm” otion added
